Keeping Our Staff And Customers Safe During the Coronavirus
Here at APL/APC we are committed to safety and are actively doing our part to reduce the chances of the Coronavirus spreading. Whilst we employ a number of these practices anyway, we are taking extra care that all of our staff follow them.
Upon returning to our depot, our team thoroughly clean each machine with G101 multi purpose cleaner with extra attention taken on high risk areas of the machine such as keypads and control boxes using special Biocidal cleaner. All of our drivers clean their vehicles with special disinfectant wipes and cleaning in between drops to reduce the risk of spreading the virus and we are also disinfecting our offices daily and have adopted many safeguarding techniques including keeping a 2m distance between any two people at one time.
In addition to this, our drivers are now offering a safer way to sign for deliveries and collections thanks to the custom-built web app developed by APL Aerial Platforms.
How does it work?
Upon arriving to site, our driver will send a text message notification to the site contact advising of our arrival. On the message will be a link to our website where the customer will be able to sign for their delivery or collection on their own smartphone, eliminating the need to sign any physical paper work or touch the Digital device held by our driver and thus reducing the chance of potentially spreading the Coronavirus.

Implementing our practices into everyday operations
As an example, we recently supplied a Skyjack SJ3219 Electric Scissor Lift that was required for an urgent last-minute job on an NHS site and so it was especially important for the machine to be fully disinfected. Before loading the machine on our truck, we disinfected it with special G101 biocidal cleaner and paid extra attention to the machine’s top control box and base controls. We then loaded the machine wearing the necessary safety PPE and headed to site. Upon arriving on site, our driver sent a text message to the customer, giving them the option to sign for the machine on their own phone allowing us to maintain social distancing at all times. We delivered the machine and then further disinfected all of the high touch point areas giving extra peace of mind to the customer.
